India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry launched its first countervailing duty (CVD) sunset review concerning aluminum wires and wire rods from Malaysia on April 27, 2026, following applications submitted by Hindalco Industries Limited, Vedanta Limited, and Bharat Aluminium Company Limited.

The investigation focuses on alloyed and non-alloyed aluminum wire in coil form and wire rods in coil form with diameters ranging from 9 mm to 13 mm, under HS codes 76011040, 76012040, 76041010, 76042920, 76051100, and 76052100.

The subsidy inquiry spans eighteen months from July 2024 to December 2025. Injury assessments cover four distinct periods: April 2022 to March 2023, April 2023 to March 2024, April 2024 to March 2025, and July 2024 to December 2025.

This review determines if ending existing CVD duties would lead to continued or recurring injury to the domestic industry.
