Taiwan’s government backs tech projects in green steel, recycled aluminum, and robotics

19 May 2026 16:55 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs approved R&D funding for China Steel Corporation (CSC), Taiwan Hodaka Technology, and Solomon Technology Corporation to advance smart manufacturing and net-zero goals.

Solomon Technology will build an AI perception platform enabling humanoid, quadruped, and wheeled robots to identify distant targets and learn new objects autonomously. This generative AI system reduces reliance on physical training data, facilitating cross-platform deployment in logistics and inspection.

For sustainable materials, Taiwan Hodaka Technology will establish a smart purification line to create high-performance alloys containing 90% recycled aluminum, dropping raw emissions below 2kg CO2/kg-Al.

Concurrently, CSC, with Sa. Tai-H Industrial and Wu Jii Industry, will manufacture domestic 1.5GPa ultra-high-strength steel and cold stamping automotive parts to improve vehicle safety and lower production energy use.
