Vale & GreenIron collaborate to decarbonize metals and mining supply chain

Vale, the Brazilian mining giant, and Sweden's GreenIron have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on decarbonizing the metals and mining supply chain.

The partnership focuses on projects in both Brazil and Sweden, including developing a direct reduction facility in Brazil.

This initiative aims to reduce the environmental impact of iron production by exploring green hydrogen and other sustainable technologies. Vale will supply iron ore agglomerates for GreenIron’s facility in Sandviken, Sweden. Both companies plan feasibility studies to evaluate site options, renewable energy supply, and the use of green hydrogen.

This agreement highlights the commitment to creating low-carbon solutions and reducing the mining sector’s climate footprint.
