A A A
Saarstahl Rail, a subsidiary of Saarstahl AG, and SNCF Réseau, the main operator of the French national railway network, have signed a major contract for CO2-reduced rails worth more than EUR 1 billion for a period of up to six years.

The rails, made using the electric arc furnace of Saarstahl Ascoval, another subsidiary of Saarstahl AG, reduce CO2 emissions by up to 70% compared to traditional production. This deal secures nearly 1,000 jobs and will reduce carbon emissions by over one million tons, equivalent to Germany’s transport sector emissions in 2.5 days.
