Ghana Bauxite Company has announced plans to build a bauxite refinery in Awaso, Western North Region, to process raw bauxite into alumina, a key component for aluminum production.

General Manager Alexander Gyedu said the project will enhance the company’s operations, raise revenue, and create local jobs. It also aims to reduce reliance on foreign refineries and add value to Ghana’s natural resources.

Western North Regional Minister Wilbert Petty Brentum welcomed the initiative, saying the project meets the government’s plan to build an integrated aluminum industry and support local economic growth.
