India's GreenLine Mobility Solutions, part of the Essar Group, announced last Thursday that they will invest US$275 million to boost decarbonization of the heavy truck fleet.

The investment will be used on 10,000 liquefied natural gas (LNG) and electric trucks to decrease carbon emissions during logistics in the country, to make sure its supply chain aligns with sustainability goals.

The company will also build up a countrywide network of 100 LNG refueling stations, battery-swapping facilities, and EV charging stations. It now operates 650 LNG trucks and by far reduced emissions by 10,000 tons. According to GreenLine, its LNG-powered trucks could cut carbon dioxide emissions by up to 30%.

India is the third-largest emitter of greenhouse gases in the world, and its domestic companies are investing billions of dollars to make the country achieve the net-zero emissions target by 2070.
