Tata Steel Nederland announced on Wednesday that the major industrial companies from Oman, the Netherlands, and Germany have signed an agreement for the development of the first liquid hydrogen import corridor globally. The agreement was signed by 11 parties during a visit by Oman to the Netherlands. 

The liquid hydrogen import corridor, which will link the port of Duqm in Oman, the port of Duisburg in Germany, and the port of Amsterdam in the Netherlands, will include export and import facilities at these ports, along with pipe and rail networks for transporting gaseous and liquid hydrogen. The company mentioned that the purpose is to import green hydrogen to Europe. 

According to an IEA report published in 2023, Oman has been working on its decarbonization targets to produce at least 1 million tons of green hydrogen per year by 2030. The report also said that Oman will become the largest exporter of hydrogen in the Middle East, as well as the sixth-largest in the world by 2030.
