Norwegian industrial giant Hydro and shipping firm Wilson ASA have launched "Wilson Eyde," a new vessel using wind-assisted propulsion to transport pitch for Hydro's primary aluminum production.

Replacing older ships, "Wilson Eyde" also features an AI-based fuel optimization system and increased load capacity, aiming to reduce emissions and costs on its regular route between European suppliers and Hydro's Norwegian facilities.

Hydro has an ambition to cut its logistics chain emissions by 30% by 2030. Wilson’s Chief Commercial Officer said the partnership is crucial for meeting future environmental standards and strengthening collaboration.
