Hydro's net income soars in Q1 y-o-y

5 May 2025 14:17 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Norwegian aluminum producer Norsk Hydro reported a 20% year-on-year increase in revenue to NOK 57.094 billion for the first quarter of 2025. Adjusted EBITDA had a surge of 76% to NOK 9.516 billion, primarily driven by higher alumina and aluminum prices, along with positive currency effects. This was partially offset by increased raw material costs, lower extrusion production and margins, reduced alumina sales, and higher fixed costs.

During the quarter, Hydro's net income reached NOK 5.861 billion, a substantial increase from NOK 428 million in the same period last year. The net debt was NOK 15.1 billion, falling from NOK 16.0 billion in the corresponding period a year ago. The increase was mainly driven by a positive EBITDA contribution.
