Eivind Kallevik, CEO of Norwegian aluminum and energy company Norsk Hydro, emphasized the critical need for the US to increase aluminum recycling. He pointed out the metal's essential role in construction, automobiles, energy, and technology sectors, particularly for modernizing the aging electrical grid and creating lighter, more energy-efficient vehicles.

Kallevik stressed aluminum's infinite recyclability and the benefits of keeping more scrap onshore for manufacturing, the economy, and national security, reducing reliance on external sources. He also highlighted the growing importance of energy policy and a fair regulatory environment for the industry's future. Recycling is presented as a key short-term solution for greater US self-sufficiency in aluminum.
