Velux partners with Novelis for sustainable aluminum supply

5 Jun 2025 15:45 reported by Yolanda Wang

A A A
Velux Group has entered into a long-term commercial agreement with aluminum recycler Novelis to procure aluminum containing at least 70% recycled content for roof window production. The agreement replaces the initial letter of intent in 2022, confirming the goal of 3 kilograms or less CO2eq per kilogram of flat-rolled aluminum by 2030.

Novelis, Velux’s supplier for over 40 years, has already replaced 50% of its aluminum supply with high-recycled-content material.

The partnership focuses on developing optimized alloys to reduce Scope 3 emissions, which account for over 98% of Velux’s carbon footprint. This collaboration supports both companies’ commitments to circular economy principles and low-carbon production.
