EGA explores bauxite development in Ghana

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), a premium aluminum producer based in the UAE, has partnered with the Ghana Integrated Aluminium Development Corporation (GIADEC) to investigate bauxite development opportunities in Ghana. This agreement aims to explore potential long-term bauxite supply deals and collaboration on rail and port infrastructure to increase production.

Ghana holds more than 900 million tons of bauxite resources, though it currently produces around 1.5 million tons annually.

EGA seeks to diversify its upstream supply as it expands global metal production, including a planned new primary aluminum plant in the US. EGA's CEO, Abdulnasser Bin Kalban, stated the company aims to double its bauxite production in the coming years and sees Ghana as a key opportunity.
