JFE Steel Corporation's green steel "JGreeX™" has been used for the first time in a Japanese general cargo ship. The 499GT vessel, built by Namikata Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and owned by Shinsei Kaiun Co., Ltd., is scheduled for delivery this month, June 2025.

This new ship, a steel carrier operated by JFE Logistics Corporation, a subsidiary under the JFE Group, will transport JFE Steel’s products.

JFE Steel plans to expand the use of JGreeX™ in future domestic cargo ships, aiming to decarbonize its supply chain and contribute to broader societal decarbonization through low-carbon and energy-efficient technologies.
