Italy’s Acciaierie Venete launches LUMEN green steel

Italy’s steel manufacturer Acciaierie Venete has introduced LUMEN, a new series of steel produced using 100% renewable electricity at its Padua plant. The introduction represents a significant step in the company's sustainability efforts, aiming for a clearer path to decarbonization.

LUMEN steel reduces environmental impact by exclusively using energy from renewable sources, directly contributing to lower climate-altering gas emissions. Available for an additional EUR 13 per ton this year, it eliminates related Scope 2 emissions, improving the steel's carbon footprint while maintaining product reliability.

This offering is part of Acciaierie Venete's broader Steelnovo strategy, which integrates ESG principles into its business model. The move addresses growing customer demand for sustainable solutions and supports the company's Decarbonization Plan.
