DTE & Arconic partner for real-time aluminum analysis

DTE, an Icelandic metals analytics company, is partnering with aluminum sheet provider Arconic to implement a pilot project at an Arconic facility in North America. This project will use DTE's molten metal composition analysis system to improve manufacturing efficiency and product quality.

The project will use DTE’s LP-LIBS Analyzer, which provides real-time chemical composition analysis of molten aluminum in furnaces. This pilot is a step forward from a memorandum of understanding signed by the companies in October last year.

The Arconic Technology Center near Pittsburgh, PA, is coordinating the effort. The collaboration aims to evaluate the potential for wider adoption of DTE’s technology across Arconic’s global operations, with expectations for increased throughput, optimized scrap utilization, and a reduced carbon footprint.
