TNB & Petronas launch green hydrogen hub with floating solar in Terengganu

A A A
Malaysian utility Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) announced its participation in two projects to establish a green hydrogen hub in Terengganu, utilizing hydroelectric power and floating solar arrays. The initiative aims to position Malaysia as a regional leader in the green hydrogen value chain and aligns with the National Energy Transition Roadmap (NETR).

TNB will collaborate with Malaysian oil and gas company Petroliam Nasional Bhd (Petronas) on the green hydrogen project. Additionally, TNB’s power generation subsidiary, TNB Genco Sdn Bhd, will partner with Terengganu Inc to implement a floating photovoltaic (PV) plan.

The solar system will complement existing hydropower resources as part of TNB’s broader renewable energy initiative. The hydrogen produced will be used for derivatives such as green methanol and green ammonia.
