Century Aluminum endorses higher tariffs, plans major US expansion

Century Aluminum, the largest US primary aluminum producer, endorsed President Trump's decision to increase aluminum import tariffs from 25% to 50%, citing benefits for domestic investment and jobs.

The company announced plans to build America's first new aluminum smelter in 50 years and double its domestic production capacity.

As an integrated producer with operations spanning bauxite, alumina, and primary aluminum, Century Aluminum maintains facilities in the US, Iceland, the Netherlands, and Jamaica.
