Siemens Energy & Paragon inks agreement for development of new recycled aluminum hydrogen tech

1 Aug 2025 14:31 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Siemens Energy and UK-based start-up Paragon Resources have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to commercialize a new hydrogen production technology. This process uses recycled aluminum and water with a catalyst, producing hydrogen gas and aluminum hydroxide without needing electricity, electrolysis, or fossil fuels.

The collaboration will leverage Paragon’s patented process and Siemens Energy’s automation, control systems, AI-driven optimization, and digital technology. The goal is to scale up the production process from a pilot stage to full commercial deployment.

This technology provides a fossil-fuel-free alternative to traditional hydrogen production methods. It also aims to make green hydrogen more commercially viable and address challenges such as high operational costs and inconsistent renewable energy supply.
