Hydro has strong Q1 performance, sees limited impact from US tariffs

Norwegian aluminum producer Hydro has reported a year-on-year 75.9% surge in first-quarter adjusted EBITDA, reaching NOK 9,516 million. The company said higher alumina and all-in aluminum prices and favorable currency effects were reasons for the growth.

Hydro's President and CEO, Eivind Kallevik, stated the company has limited exposure to potential US tariffs due to its domestic sourcing and pricing strategies. Hydro's market share in the European automotive sector also helps reduce its risk.

In addition, the company is actively focusing on a circular economy, recently partnering with Vode Lighting and Nemak to commercialize low-carbon, recycled aluminum products.
