Peel Ports joins Aluminium Federation to strengthen UK supply chains

22 Aug 2025 14:51 reported by Stanley Wang

A A A
Peel Ports Group becomes the first and only UK port operator to join the Aluminium Federation (ALFED), highlighting its commitment to supporting the nation’s aluminium and metals supply chains. The move follows a record-breaking year for steel imports at the Port of Liverpool, with volumes up more than 35% year-on-year.

By joining ALFED, a non-profit organisation representing the UK aluminium industry, Peel Ports aims to offer more efficient and sustainable supply chain solutions. The company is already collaborating with customers to move aluminium cargoes closer to major demand centres in the North West, Midlands, and North East, cutting road miles and emissions through greater use of coastal and short sea shipping.
