Aluminium Bahrain (Alba) has signed a non-binding memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Egypt's Metallurgical Industries Holding to investigate the development of an alumina refinery in Egypt.

The agreement was finalized on September 3, 2025, during an official visit to Egypt by the Crown Prince and Prime Minister of Bahrain.

This MoU establishes a framework for future discussions regarding strategic collaboration. The potential project could include long-term purchase agreements and equity partnerships, offering new opportunities for both companies and strengthening their operational and strategic interests in the region.
