Aperam Stainless Belgium, part of the global Aperam Group, signed a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Belgian venture capital company LRM to source renewable electricity from Kristal Solar Park. The agreement highlights Aperam’s ongoing commitment to decarbonization and sustainable production.

Under the PPA, Aperam will receive green electricity from Kristal Solar Park, the largest photovoltaic installation in Belgium and one of the largest in the Benelux. The solar park is undergoing a major expansion with 50,000 additional panels, driven by LRM, the City of Lommel, and Nyrstar, representing a EUR12 million investment. The expanded facility is expected to be operational by November 2025.

The deal is a key step in Aperam’s strategy to reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 and reduce GHG intensity by 20% by 2030 compared to 2021. It complements existing renewable initiatives, including on-site solar parks at Aperam’s Genk and Châtelet plants, and supports a low-carbon supply chain for stainless steel products.
