Construction officially started on SSAB’s new mini-mill in Luleå, Sweden. The 2.5-Mtpy mill will feature Danieli’s QSP-DUE thin slab casting and rolling technology, producing strips from 1.3 mm to 25.4 mm thick and up to 2,100 mm wide, with coil weights of up to 40 tons.

Danieli Automation’s Digi&Met solutions, robotics, and auxiliary systems will support sustainable operations. Upon completion, the mill will be among the most electrified and sustainable steel plants globally, contributing to a 7% reduction in Sweden’s total carbon emissions.
