Abu Dhabi-based EMSTEEL Group has announced the launch of its TrueGreen™ sustainability brand, consolidating its multi-year carbon reduction initiatives into a single platform and setting a new benchmark for transparency and accountability in the steel industry.
It is understood that TrueGreen™ products come with an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) and a digital tracking system, providing batch-level carbon emissions data to help customers comply with international regulations such as the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). CEO of EMSTEEL, Saeed Ghumran Al Remeithi, stated that the brand demonstrates the company's commitment to sustainable steel and enhances its customers' competitiveness.
EMSTEEL has achieved numerous breakthroughs, including becoming the first company in the Middle East and North Africa to receive ResponsibleSteel™ certification, pioneering the use of electrically heated gas furnaces for steelmaking, and participating in ADNOC's carbon capture program and the Masdar hydrogen steelmaking project. Its low-carbon products are already used in Abu Dhabi's first net-zero carbon mosque.
Currently, EMSTEEL's carbon emission intensity is only 0.67 tons of CO2 per ton of steel, significantly lower than the global average. This is in line with the UAE's Net Zero Emissions 2050 strategy, consolidating its position as a global leader in decarbonized steel.
