WBMS: Global primary aluminum market has continued supply deficit in Aug

The World Bureau of Metal Statistics’ (WBMS) latest report showed a continued supply deficit in the global primary aluminum market. In August, production reached 6.1345 million tons, but consumption was higher at 6.2399 million tons, resulting in a shortage of 105,400 tons.

In the first eight months of this year, the total supply shortage was 1.1587 million tons, with production at 48.5026 million tons against 49.6613 million tons consumed.

In terms of alumina, global alumina output in August was 12.8906 million tons, and the output in the January-August period amounted to 99.465 million tons.
