EGA inaugurates metallurgical testing lab to support US recycled aluminum growth

Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), a premium aluminum producer based in the UAE, has inaugurated a new metallurgical testing laboratory in Minnesota, USA, as part of the expansion of its EGA Spectro Alloys recycling plant.

The laboratory provides essential metallographic and mechanical testing to guarantee the quality and precise specifications of finished recycled aluminum products for customers. The facility will also aid customers by testing their castings and extrusions to optimize their own quality control.

The current plant expansion adds 55,000 tons of secondary billet capacity, bringing total annual production to 165,000 tons of recycled aluminum ingots and billets. This prepares EGA to meet rising US demand for low-carbon aluminum. The ramp-up is expected to be complete early next year.
