Hillside Aluminium drives South Africa's industrial growth

Hillside Aluminium, the sole primary aluminum producer in South Africa, is intensifying its commitment to the local economy in KwaZulu-Natal. Operating for over four decades, the smelter allocates nearly 25% of its production to domestic manufacturers every year, an important element for industrial expansion.

Over three years, Hillside invested more than US$22 million in wages, fiscal contributions, and community programs. This support extended to major beneficiaries such as Hulamin and Bingelela Alloys, providing financing to modernize operations.

Further supporting local industry, Hillside committed over US$4 million to accelerate the reactivation of an aluminum rod plant by AluSouth, aiding Eskom’s grid expansion plan and job creation.

Hillside’s model boosts internal capabilities in manufacturing, smelting, and transformation, in line with South Africa's economic growth objectives.
