Alleima, a Swedish producer of advanced stainless steels and special alloys, has had its sustainability goals validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).

The company plans to reduce its Scope 1 and 2 CO2 emissions by more than 54% and Scope 3 emissions by 28% by 2030, based on the 2019 level.

Alleima has already achieved a 41% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 emissions in the third quarter of this year by using fossil-free electricity and biogas.

Håkan Sundström, Head of Sustainability at Alleima, said that the company is well ahead of schedule, pointing out that 97% of all electricity used is now fossil-free. Alleima will focus on electrification, biogas, and hydrogen to continue its progress toward net zero emissions by 2050.
