Hydro inks 10-year power deal with Hafslund for low-carbon aluminum production

10 Nov 2025 14:54 reported by Joy Liu

A A A
Hydro Energi AS and Hafslund Kraft AS have entered a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for a total supply of 3.5 TWh of electricity. The deal guarantees an annual supply of 350 GWh over a ten-year period, starting in 2031 and running through 2040.

Hydro said that this renewable energy supply is instrumental for producing aluminum with low carbon emissions, a strategic raw material for European industry.

This clean power allows Hydro to manufacture aluminum in Norway with carbon emissions approximately 75% below the global average, supporting the company's goal of reaching zero emissions by 2050.

Hydro is actively developing new renewable projects and upgrading its existing power assets to meet future energy demands.
