Norwegian aluminum producer Norsk Hydro received global recognition at the Dezeen Awards in London, securing both the "Material innovation of the year" and "Sustainability project of the year" awards. The prizes celebrate Hydro CIRCAL 100R, the company’s recycled aluminum based on projects using 100% post-consumer aluminum.

Officially launching in 2024, Hydro CIRCAL 100R achieves a carbon footprint below 0.5 kilo CO2e per kilo aluminum, which is 97% lower than the world average.

The Dezeen Awards jury called the material a rare glimpse of not just hope, but real progress, acknowledging Hydro's success in creating an infinite material loop at an industrial scale. Hydro’s projects demonstrated concepts like "urban mining" and "circular economy" through collaborations with international designers.
