Vallourec & Geostock sign MoU to boost hydrogen & CCUS storage infrastructure

Vallourec, a global leader in premium seamless tubular solutions, and Geostock, a specialist in underground energy storage, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen collaboration on infrastructure for the energy transition, focusing on hydrogen and carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS).

The partnership emphasizes hydrogen storage, where the companies’ offerings are complementary. Vallourec’s Delphy turnkey storage system can store up to 100 tons of hydrogen safely, while Geostock’s mined lined rock caverns are suitable for larger capacities of 500+ tons. The collaboration also leverages Geostock’s expertise in subsurface development to support installation and civil engineering for Vallourec’s solutions.

The MoU covers well architecture and tubular solutions for hydrogen and CCUS, with both companies sharing R&D, technical expertise, and tested tubular solutions to develop high-performance underground storage. This partnership aligns with Vallourec’s strategy to work with leading New Energies players to meet the industrial, environmental, and economic challenges of the energy transition.
