ArcelorMittal and EDF finalized a long-term Nuclear Power Production Allocation Contract (CAPN) on December 26, 2025, to supply low-carbon electricity to steel plants across France. This agreement grants ArcelorMittal a share of EDF’s nuclear fleet capacity for 18 years. The first energy deliveries under this partnership began on January 1, 2026.

This arrangement provides ArcelorMittal with competitive, stable energy prices for nearly two decades. Reiner Blaschek, CEO of ArcelorMittal Europe Flat Products, said that securing reliable power is essential for the future competitiveness of French-made steel.

By partnering with EDF, the steelmaker aims to reduce its carbon footprint and support energy sovereignty while stabilizing its long-term operational costs in Europe.
