Global primary aluminum production hits 6.3 million tons in Jan

According to statistics from the International Aluminium Institute (IAI), global primary aluminum output reached 6.317 million tons in January, representing an increase from the 6.239 million tons produced during the same month last year and slightly exceeding the revised December total of 6.3 million tons. China contributed an estimated 3.786 million tons to this global volume, up from its revised December output of 3.775 million tons.

Separately, World Bureau of Metal Statistics (WBMS) figures for December 2025 showed a market surplus of 57,000 tons. During that month, global primary aluminum production totaled 6.1598 million tons, while consumption reached 6.1028 million tons.
